Spartan returns to Hvar this October

After a successful edition in 2024, one thing is clear. Hvar is the perfect place for major international sporting events. In October 2025, the town of Hvar will once again host the Spartan World Championship, a prestigious competition that brings together the world’s top obstacle course athletes.

Located in the heart of the Adriatic, Hvar offers an ideal combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage and modern infrastructure. It is no coincidence that global organizations looking for more than just a sports venue are drawn to this destination. In a month when the island breathes more calmly and the autumn colors become richer, Hvar delivers a truly unique experience.

The Spartan racecourse winds through the town’s stone streets, along the waterfront, up to the fortress and across scenic trails with breathtaking views. Athletes will compete in Sprint (5 km with 20 obstacles), Super (10 km with 25 obstacles), Beast (21 km with 30 obstacles), as well as the elite 100-meter obstacle race that carries the title of World Championship.

But the real story lies beyond the numbers. Spartan in Hvar is not just a race. It is a gathering of people from more than 30 countries, a meeting of cultures and an opportunity to discover the spirit of the Mediterranean through sport. Competitors and visitors alike get to experience local cuisine, walk through centuries-old streets, take in the views from the fortress and feel the energy of an island that lives well beyond the typical tourist season.

The town of Hvar has proven to be an outstanding host. It offers ample accommodation, good transport connections and a team that understands what it takes to welcome a world-class event. The support of the local community, Hvar Tourist Board and dedicated volunteers adds a layer of warmth to the entire experience.

Those who come for the race stay for Hvar. And those who experience the island in October always find a reason to return. That is the greatest success of an event like this.
